Wodyetia bifurcate

A thin trunked, crown shafted, medium height pinnate palm that is very attractive in appearance.  Anticipate a mature height above twenty feet but almost always below thirty feet.
BARK:
LEAVES : pinnate, reduplicate, arching, to 3 m long. Leaflets have prominent marginal ribs and are held in several planes (plumose). The crown shaft is pale green, to 1 m long, with a bloom of gray to white waxy scales. Leaflets are regularly arranged, spreading in several planes, with praemorse tips, and large gray or brown scurf along the rachis.
FLOWERS: white to yellowish; staminate;and;pistillate flowers.
FRUIT: Spherical to ovoid, 5 cm long fruits are orange-red when ripe, with apical stigmatic remains forming a beak.

Foxtail palm is also grown as a house or conservatory plant in well-lit areas.
Foxtail palm may be planted in areas having strong winds and moderate amounts of salt spray.

The  foxtail palm  is endemic to a remote area in Queensland, Australia on the Cape York Peninsula where they grow in rocky and flooded scrubland. It is usually found in sandy, acidic soils, they grow from sea level to 400 m in elevation. Wodyetia occurs in open woodland communities consisting of rain forest elements in coarse, loose granite sand, among huge granite boulders, with the main canopy being the palms themselves.
